The GP&FC committee’s role is to assist the Chief Executive Officer in developing strategy for the Federation. They initiate and consider detailed planning associated with major strategic issues and reporting to the Board of Directors.

BCF Board of Directors

Eligibility

Under the BCF Articles of Association, the Board of Directors are composed of:

  • A representative of each of the 12 largest (A) member companies by turnover.
  • Non-A Members representatives, who should exceed by one, the number of A members. (Four of the Non-A members must retire by rotation each year.)
  • The four BCF Sector Council Person and up to two others from each Sector Council.
    Up to three Non-Executive Directors (who don’t have voting rights) Note: each Board Director may allocate a named ‘Alternate’

Overall Purpose

The Board meets three to four times a year to oversee BCF activities. The Board acts to ensure that the BCF:

  • Promotes and protects the interests of members.
  • Encourages the prosperity of the Coatings industry.
  • Provides an interface between the industry and the Government, other industry and non-industry organisations, the media and the general public.


Key activities of the Board are:

  • Agreeing and reviewing Federation strategy
  • Approving BCF management appointments
  • Ensuring Federation activities are functioning properly, such as lobbying to influence regulatory matters and legislation, technical assistance and backup.
  • Overseeing the management of the BCF finances
  • Deciding what added value services would be useful to members and agreeing the resourcing of these services.
  • Providing industry PR within the UK
  • Liaising as necessary with the CEPE Board
