What is the Coatings NextGen Council and why get involved?

The Coatings NextGen Council (CNGC) is focused on attracting young people into the coatings industry, understanding the range of careers available and the role of apprenticeships. They also discuss and input into areas of interest i.e. ED&I and sustainability. Through the group, members can have the opportunity to directly influence our careers strategy moving forward.

The CNGC provides opportunities for future leaders to build relationships, expand their industry knowledge, and develop professional and leadership skills, all while supporting BCF and the development of industry standards. Membership is open to BCF member company employees who are age 35 and younger or in their first five years in the industry. Our committee members have a range of experience and come from a wide variety of technical and non-technical industry backgrounds.

What is expected of CNGC members?

Attending meetings

The CNGC meet virtually 4 times a year and will meet face-to-face at least once per year. We anticipate that individuals will need to commit approximately 6 days per year to this group.

Raising our industry profile

Individual group members will be expected to participate in BCF intiatives such as attending careers fairs, as well as disseminating group activities within their own organisations to raise the profile of the BCF Coatings Careers Strategy.

CNGC Member Job Profiles

BCF are calling for new and existing CNGC members to help us create video case studies to showcase the breadth of roles in the coatings industry. Our marketing team create job profile videos in-house, and we will come to your site to sit down with you and hear your career story.

If you have any colleagues that would also like to create a video with us, this is welcomed and allows us to not only demonstrate roles within the sector, but also showcase the work of your company. You can watch examples of our existing job profile videos below.
