BCF press release - BCF Annual Conference 2022 to focus on politics, the economy and sustainability
03 February 2022
British Coatings Federation (BCF) has now announced the full speaker line-up for the BCF Annual Conference 2022. The Conference will be held on Wednesday 25th May at The Belfry Hotel and Golf Resort, located in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
The main themes of the Conference will be the political and economic landscape facing members, followed by two sessions on sustainability. The first session will see representatives from Government and influential organisations assess the current climate and the impact of this on the coatings industry and beyond.
The second and third sessions will look at the global coatings industry’s sustainability strategy, the road to Net Zero and a panel session on packaging extended producer responsibility and paint recycling. At the last BCF Board meeting, members pledged their commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 on behalf of the industry, as well as the target to increase the percentage of leftover paint re-used, recycled, or re-manufactured from 2% today to 75% by 2030 through the PaintCare scheme. The industry’s roadmap to Net Zero and the PaintCare scheme will be a key focus of the strategy session and the panel session will be made up of paint recyclers, packaging sector and EPR specialist consultants and chaired by BCF PaintCare Consultant Steve Snaith.
This year’s keynote speaker is Claire Lomas MBE, British campaigner, fundraiser and former event rider, who will tell her moving story of recovery following a freak accident. After the Conference is the annual Industry Dinner, where delegates will have an opportunity to catch up with over 100 industry contacts. During the dinner, the audience will be entertained by award-winning comedian Barbara Nice.
For this year’s event, BCF are proud to have a charity partnership for the Annual Conference and Industry Dinner with The Community Heartbeat Trust. The British Coatings Federation is in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust and BT to promote the installation of defibrillators in BT phone boxes across the UK through the Minutes Matter campaign.
BCF are grateful to this year’s sponsors, lead sponsor Microban, Fenton Packaging, LKAB, Verlingue and Stort Chemicals for their generous support.
